Seneca Polytechnic nursing: Honours BScN, bridge options and Practical Nursing
Seneca Polytechnic’s Nanji Foundation School of Nursing lists an Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing, bridge and fast-track variants, and a Practical Nursing diploma. Instruction is in English. This page summarizes what Seneca’s own pages say, including a change from the older collaborative degree with York University.
What the school offers (nursing)
- Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing: an honours degree of eight semesters (four years) at the King campus, in a hybrid format in which some coursework is online and some must be completed in person. Seneca says the program was granted ministerial consent for a seven-year term starting October 15, 2021. ↗
- Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing (Bridge) and (Fast Track): both listed on the school’s page at the King campus; the Fast Track is flagged there as a new program. Check the program pages for who qualifies. ↗
- Practical Nursing: an Ontario College Diploma, five semesters (two years) full time, offered at the King and Newnham campuses. Seneca says the program is approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and includes mandatory practicums and clinical placements. ↗
History matters if you read older material: York University’s page says the collaborative BScN with Seneca and Georgian was discontinued, with the final cohort admitted in 2022. Current applicants look at Seneca’s own BScN.
Becoming licensed after graduating
In Ontario, nurses register with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Seneca’s BScN page says graduates must complete the qualifying examination (NCLEX-RN) and other requirements set by CNO, and its Practical Nursing page says graduates are eligible to write the registration exam for RPNs. CNO’s own guidance names the NCLEX-RN for RNs and the REx-PN for RPNs, plus a separate jurisprudence exam. Confirm current steps with CNO.
How to apply
Seneca’s program pages have their own application links and show current intake status; at our last check the BScN page showed availability for a later start and a waitlist for another. Ontario colleges generally use ontariocolleges.ca, but confirm the route and dates on the program page.
How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here
The hybrid delivery means part of your learning is self-directed. Study Lab can turn notes you paste in into practice questions and flashcards, which suits independent revision between in-person labs and placements.
