Cégep André-Laurendeau nursing: DEC, DEC-BAC and the OIIQ exam

Canada · Montréal, Québec · Last checked October 2026

Cégep André-Laurendeau is a French-language public college in Montréal. Its program directory includes Soins infirmiers (the DEC in nursing, code 180.A0) and a separate program titled Soins infirmiers pour auxiliaires. The pages below are in French; this summary explains what they cover.

Fiabita is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Cégep André-Laurendeau. Program details, admissions and licensing rules change: verify them with the school and the regulator before you decide.

What the school offers (nursing)

The Le Cégep directory also flags André-Laurendeau as offering the DEC-BAC option and lists the program as taught in French.

Becoming licensed after graduating

In Québec, the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) issues the permit to practise as a nurse. The Québec program description for the nursing DEC says graduates must pass the exam required to obtain the OIIQ practice permit. Registered nurses in Québec do not follow the NCLEX-RN route used elsewhere in Canada. Exam dates, number of attempts and other conditions are set by the OIIQ, so check its site. Auxiliary nurses (infirmières auxiliaires) are regulated by a different order, the OIIAQ.

How to apply

Montréal-area colleges generally receive DEC applications through SRAM (Service régional d’admission du Montréal métropolitain). SRAM’s site says regular admissions for the winter 2027 session opened on September 15, 2026. Confirm the intake, deadline and prerequisites for your session on the college’s program page before you apply.

How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here

The nursing DEC is dense and clinical from early on. Study Lab can turn your own course notes into practice questions and flashcards, which is useful for pharmacology, assessment and clinical reasoning. It does not replace your teachers or the OIIQ’s own preparation material.
