Nursing at UQTR in Trois-Rivières: the initial bachelor's and the DEC-BAC stream
The Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) lists two main nursing bachelor's programs on its official program pages. Both are in French. Both have limited places, so read the current admission notes.
What the school offers (nursing)
- Baccalauréat en sciences infirmières (formation initiale), program 7929. A 105-credit B.Sc. offered on the Trois-Rivières campus only, with a fall intake. It is limited-enrolment ("contingenté"), and the page lists a minimum cote R and a possible interview for some applicants. For Québec applicants it asks for a DEC in natural sciences or equivalent coursework in biology, chemistry and mathematics.
- Baccalauréat en sciences infirmières, volet universitaire DEC-BAC, program 6854. A 90-credit B.Sc. for holders of a DEC in nursing (180.A0), who must apply within three years of finishing the DEC. The page lists Trois-Rivières, Drummondville and Joliette as locations, and it is also limited-enrolment.
- Before placements. The initial-program page says students must request an immatriculation certificate from the OIIQ from their first session, because it is required for the placements that start in the second session.
Becoming licensed after graduating
UQTR's page states that completing the program does not confer a right to practise, and that this power belongs to the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ). Graduates register with the OIIQ to practise nursing in Québec. Check the OIIQ for the current steps.
How to apply
The initial-program page gives March 1 as the application deadline, and says the program takes a fall intake only. For the DEC-BAC stream, the page said admission was closed for fall 2026 at the time of checking, so read the current status before planning. Both pages publish the most recent admitted cote R as context; treat it as history, not a guarantee.
How Fiabita's Study Lab can help students here
The initial program is selective and moves quickly into placements in the second session. Study Lab can help you turn your own class notes into practice questions and flashcards for medication and assessment topics, and rehearse documentation and handoff language. Fiabita is independent of UQTR and has none of its materials; AI output can contain errors, so verify it with your course content.
