UBC Vancouver nursing student guide: the advanced-standing BSN
What the school offers (nursing)
- UBC’s Vancouver nursing page describes an advanced-standing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): entry is at third-year level for applicants who have completed prerequisite coursework.
- The program runs five consecutive academic terms, full-time. The page says all coursework, labs and clinical experiences are delivered in person at the Point Grey campus.
- The admission pages have sections on eligibility, course prerequisites, a Human Anatomy and Physiology prerequisite, and minimum academic standing. Because UBC changes these requirements, read the current version rather than relying on a summary.
Becoming licensed after graduating
Nurses in British Columbia are regulated by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), which says registered nurses have completed an entry-level baccalaureate nursing education program and met its licensing requirements. Outside Québec, registered nurses sit the NCLEX-RN. We did not find a BCCNM or exam statement on UBC’s page itself, so confirm the program’s recognition status and the current steps on the BCCNM site.
How to apply
The page we checked said applications for the 2026W intake were closed and that 2027W applications open in early October 2026. It points to the program website for admission requirements and application instructions, and lists contact details for the Vancouver office (admin.support@nursing.ubc.ca).
How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here
Study Lab is independent and not affiliated with the University of British Columbia. The advanced-standing format moves quickly, so building quizzes and flashcards from your own notes and slides can help you keep up in pharmacology, assessment and documentation. AI-generated content can contain errors, so check it against your course material.
