Does NAIT offer nursing? Health programs at NAIT and where Alberta nurses train
Many people search for NAIT nursing. NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) is an Edmonton polytechnic with a large School of Health and Life Sciences, so here is what that school actually lists and where Alberta nursing programs are found.
What the school offers (nursing)
- No nursing program found: in the program list of NAIT’s School of Health and Life Sciences (checked October 2026), we found no practical nursing, registered nursing or nursing bridging program.
- Health programs it does list: Advanced Care Paramedic (diploma), Primary Care Paramedic (certificate), Respiratory Therapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Radiologic Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Dental Assisting and others, plus a Leadership in Healthcare post-diploma certificate.
- Where Alberta nursing is offered: the Government of Alberta’s Transfer Alberta page lists BScN programs at Northwestern Polytechnic, Keyano College and Red Deer College (collaborative with the University of Alberta), and at MacEwan University, the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. It lists practical nurse programs at NorQuest College, Bow Valley College, Lethbridge Polytechnic, Medicine Hat College and several other institutions. NAIT is not among them on that page.
Becoming licensed after graduating
In Alberta, registered nurses are registered by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Its registration-exams page names the NCLEX-RN as the exam for registered nurses and mentions a provisional permit for graduates who have not yet passed it. Practical nurses are regulated separately by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Programs are not interchangeable, so check which regulator governs the role you want.
How to apply
For a NAIT program such as paramedic or respiratory therapy, start from the program’s own NAIT page. For an Alberta nursing program elsewhere, the Transfer Alberta nursing page links to each institution, and each one explains its own application process. We did not verify a single shared application service for all of them.
How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here
If you study a health program at NAIT, such as paramedicine or respiratory therapy, Study Lab can turn your own notes into quizzes and flashcards, including assessment, documentation and handoff practice. If you are headed to nursing elsewhere in Alberta, it can support that coursework too.
Fiabita is not affiliated with NAIT, and Study Lab does not replace your program or your instructors. AI-generated content can contain errors, so check it against your course material.
