Memorial University nursing: the BScN across Newfoundland and Labrador
Memorial University’s nursing degree is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Collaborative) program taught in English at several sites across Newfoundland and Labrador, not only in St. John’s. This page summarizes what the Faculty of Nursing’s own pages say.
What the school offers (nursing)
- Six delivery sites: the Faculty of Nursing and the Centre for Nursing Studies in St. John’s, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, the Western Regional School of Nursing in Corner Brook, and a Labrador campus in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The admissions page says all sites offer the same degree program. ↗
- Four-year option and LPN bridging: the admissions page lists a four-year option and an LPN Bridging option, among several applicant categories (high school, current Memorial students, other post-secondary, international, transfer). ↗
- Accelerated option: the university’s accelerated-option page says it is paused at the St. John’s and Corner Brook sites and that applications are not being accepted for any campus for the fall 2027 intake. Check that page for the current position. ↗
Becoming licensed after graduating
In Newfoundland and Labrador, nurses are registered by the NL College of Nurses (NLCN). For new-graduate RN applicants, the college says you register for and pay the NCLEX-RN exam fee with the NCSBN when you submit your application, and that a temporary licence may be available while you prepare for the exam. Fees, documents and conditions change, so use the college’s page for the current steps.
How to apply
The Nursing Admissions page says applicants choose the pathway that matches their background, and it lists a January application deadline with a later document deadline for fall admission. Because dates change each cycle, confirm them with the Nursing Admissions Office (nursingadmissions@mun.ca) or on the admissions page.
How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here
If you study at a satellite site or are bridging from LPN practice, you may be balancing work, travel and coursework. Study Lab can turn your own notes into short practice questions and flashcards you can use in small time blocks.
