Nursing at McMaster University: BScN streams, Mohawk partnership and how to register

Canada · Hamilton, Ontario · Last checked October 2026

McMaster’s School of Nursing offers its BScN through three streams. Two are delivered together with Mohawk College, and one is a 20-month accelerated route for people coming from a university science program.

Fiabita is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by McMaster University. Admissions, programs, placements and professional requirements change: confirm them with the school and the regulator.

What the school offers (nursing)

Becoming licensed after graduating

In Ontario, nurses are registered by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Its page for Ontario graduates lists a registration examination for your nursing category and the jurisprudence examination among the requirements, and says registered nurse applicants write the NCLEX-RN. McMaster’s own page says graduates are eligible to apply for registration; it does not replace the CNO’s requirements.

How to apply

For the Basic stream delivered with Mohawk, Mohawk’s page says to apply through OUAC (Ontario Universities’ Application Centre) under “Nursing – BScN (Mohawk)”, program code MNM, and lists the CASPer test among the requirements. McMaster’s nursing page points to the general McMaster admission portal for its streams. Deadlines are published per cycle, so read the current ones on those pages.

How Fiabita’s Study Lab can help students here

Because the BScN is a university degree with heavy science content, Study Lab can turn your own notes into quizzes and flashcards on pathophysiology, pharmacology and lab values, and explain the rationale behind answers. It follows your material, not McMaster’s curriculum.

Fiabita is not affiliated with McMaster University, and Study Lab does not replace your program or your instructors. AI-generated content can contain errors, so check it against your course material.
