Nursing at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU): BSN, psychiatric nursing and more
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has its mailing address in Surrey, British Columbia, and operates several campuses. A detail that matters for planning: KPU's BSN page says the Bachelor of Science in Nursing is located at KPU Langley, not at the Surrey campus.
What the school offers (nursing)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The page describes a three-year, full-time program of six semesters at KPU Langley, with two intakes, fall (September) and spring (January). KPU also lists a Nursing Advanced Entry pathway for people with prior credentials.
- Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing. KPU's nursing overview describes a compressed, cohort-based two-year program.
- Other health pathways. The same overview lists a one-year Graduate Nurse Internationally Educated Re-entry certificate guided by the BCCNM, and a Health Care Assistant program of under a year.
- Selection. Since September 2021 the BSN selection process has used the CASPer online situational judgement test alongside GPA, according to the program page.
Becoming licensed after graduating
KPU states that BSN graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and to write the NCLEX. Registration is the BCCNM's decision; use its how-to-apply pages for current requirements.
How to apply
The BSN page says to apply online through kpu.ca/apply and to read the requirements in the University Calendar first. It warns that applications may close early because of demand, and asks applicants with transfer credits to say so in the application. The page also gives study@kpu.ca for questions.
How Fiabita's Study Lab can help students here
If you are in KPU's BSN, a six-semester pace leaves little slack, so Study Lab can help you turn your own lecture notes into practice questions and flashcards and rehearse SBAR handoffs before placements. If you are applying, it does not prepare you for CASPer or replace KPU's selection process. Fiabita is independent of KPU and AI output can contain errors, so verify against your course material.
