Fanshawe College nursing student guide: collaborative BScN and Practical Nursing
What the school offers (nursing)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Collaborative Nursing, with Western University. Fanshawe’s page says years one and two are at the London campus and years three and four are at Western; it describes a four-year degree.
- Practical Nursing, an Ontario College Diploma listed at 63 weeks (two years) at the London, Woodstock and Simcoe campuses. The page calls it highly competitive and mentions a Pre-Health Sciences Pathway for applicants who do not meet the admission requirements.
Becoming licensed after graduating
Nurses in Ontario register with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Fanshawe’s collaborative nursing page says graduates are eligible to apply for RN registration with CNO and to write the NCLEX-RN. Its Practical Nursing page says graduates are prepared for the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination and become eligible to register as RPNs; CNO’s current guide names the REx-PN as the RPN exam. Confirm current requirements with CNO.
How to apply
For the collaborative BScN, Fanshawe’s page says applicants apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC), using code ENW for Western or ENF for Fanshawe. For Practical Nursing, domestic applicants apply through OntarioColleges.ca.
