Nursing at Cégep de Sainte-Foy: 180.A0 DEC, early placements and OIIQ exam

Canada · Québec City, Québec · Last checked October 2026

Cégep de Sainte-Foy is a French-language public college in Québec City. This page summarises what the college and the Québec admission service say about its nursing program, and how graduates become licensed.

Fiabita is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by this institution. Current admissions, courses, placements and professional requirements must be verified with the official institution and applicable regulator.

What the school offers (nursing)

The college offers Soins infirmiers (180.A0), a three-year program with fall and winter intakes, according to its program page. Placements begin in the first term and recur every term. After two successful years, students may take a paid externship position in the health network.

The college operates Centre S, a clinical immersion simulation centre, and lists international options: a credited solidarity placement in Morocco and complementary courses in Italy/Greece and Ireland.

Entry requires the usual college admission conditions plus Secondary 4 science (ST and STE, or ATS and SE); Secondary 5 chemistry is recommended but can be completed during the program. The college adds that some universities may recognise courses toward a DEC-BAC pathway, under conditions.

Becoming licensed after graduating

Graduates must pass the professional admission exam of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) to practise as nurses in Québec; the college says so on its program page. This is not the NCLEX-RN route used in other provinces. For current registration steps, dates and language requirements, use the OIIQ's student pages.

How to apply

Colleges in the Québec City region receive applications through SRACQ. Its page for 180.A0 lists Sainte-Foy among the colleges offering the program, and at the time of checking showed 1 November 2026 as the first-round deadline for the winter 2027 session. Deadlines change each year, so confirm on SRACQ and on the college's site.
