Nursing Programs in Manitoba: A Student Guide
The short answer
The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) regulates registered nurses and nurse practitioners in the province. It says it approves the nursing education programs that lead graduates to initial registration, and it publishes the list. Licensed practical nurses and registered psychiatric nurses have their own colleges in Manitoba, so decide which designation you want before comparing programs.
Approved RN programs on the CRNM page
When we checked, the CRNM page named these baccalaureate-level programs:
- Brandon University: Bachelor of Nursing
- Université de Saint-Boniface: baccalaureate nursing (French-language option)
- Red River College Polytechnic: nursing baccalaureate
- University of Manitoba: four-year baccalaureate (Fort Garry campus)
- University College of the North with the University of Manitoba: joint baccalaureate
Having a francophone program matters if you want to study and complete placements in French. Ask the school how many placement sites operate in French.
The entry exam
The CRNM has a dedicated NCLEX-RN page for students and graduate nurses, so plan for that exam after graduation. Confirm the application steps and timing on the CRNM site; they are set by the College, not the school.

Questions to ask
- How are applicants selected and is there a separate pathway for Indigenous or northern applicants? Ask the school; do not assume.
- Which language is used in classes and in placements?
- What is the placement schedule, and is housing or travel support available for distant sites?
- What do graduates do between finishing the program and receiving the exam result?
Common mistakes
- Assuming every campus offers the same intake or the same delivery model.
- Ignoring that LPN and psychiatric nursing are separate regulated professions.
- Relying on a social media post for deadlines.
- Starting the registration paperwork late; the College sets documents and timelines.
FAQ
Q: Does a program listed by a school automatically qualify me to register?
No. Registration is decided by the regulator, not the school. Check that the program is on the CRNM's approved list and read the registration requirements that apply to graduates.
Q: Should I rely on this page for deadlines or tuition?
No. This page deliberately gives no deadlines, fees or admission averages because they change. Use the admissions page of each school and note the date you checked.
Q: Is this page legal or registration advice?
No. It is educational. Fiabita is a documentation and study tool, not a regulator or an admissions service.
